Low Calorie Chicken Casserole method

Casserole recipes are recipes that are usually referred to a one-dish meal that basically consist of cooked meats, fish, poultry, eggs and vegetables and bound with soup or sauce. They are nothing else but cooked using the casserole dish thus where the name came from. This cooking formula became very popular especially among the Americans during the 1950's thereon when the dish was first introduced to the consumers from a uncomplicated light-weight metal. Now it has evolved into distinct materials such as glass, enamel, and stoneware to name a few. With this development, recipes of so many variations came up for everyone's satisfaction.

Varieties of low calorie recipes were introduced depending on every persons requirement. The usual low calorie intake per day consists of 1500 to 1800 kcal. Normally, calorie intake varies, 1940 kcal for women and 2550 kcal for men. These fat are then burned into power and the excess intake become fat. There are essential factors that affects the daily calorie needs of a person. These are age, weight, height, the compound of the body and the daily activity. Low- calorie diet should all the time be upon the doctor's recommendation. Quarterly food are usually eliminated and a meal exchange is recommended. This is why there are recipes now that are low in fat but are Quarterly sight in our dining table especially for health known family. One casserole formula that I usually put in order for my house is the low- calorie Chicken Casserole, Filipino way.

Meat Casseroles

Low Calorie Chicken Casserole

Ingredients:

1.5 lbs chicken breast (skinless), diced 2 medium size potatoes, diced 2 medium size carrots, diced 1 medium size turnip, diced 1 each green and red bell pepper, chopped 1 large onion, chopped 4 cloves garlic, crushed รข…› cup tomato paste 1 tbsp parsley, chopped 1 tbsp paprika 1 bay leaf 1 liter chicken stock 4 tbsp olive oil salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:

In a mixing bowl or dish, mix all together the chicken, paprika, salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a casserole or a large sauce pan and place the seasoned chicken. Cook for 5-10 minutes until chicken turned brown. Remove chicken and set aside. Saute onion and garlic on the same casserole until the onions are translucent. Add the chopped green pepper and parsley then the tomato paste. Mix well and cook for 3 to 4 minutes more.

Return the chicken to the casserole. Gently add the chicken stock. Add all the vegetables and stir them all together and cook over a low heat for about 20 minutes or until chicken and vegetables are done. Ornament with parsley and serve immediately with plain rice.

Makes 5 - 6 servings

Every 100 grams of chicken breast is equivalent to 116 kcal. This casserole formula have 700 grams chicken breast and therefore has 812 kcal. Taking into account the added vegetables, it is still in conformity with a low calorie diet which is supposed to be 1500 -1800 fat per day depending on a person's needs and doctor's advice.

The Secret to a Healthy Casserole

Casseroles are something that my family indulged in at least four days a week. On Sundays Dad would put something big on the BBQ spit, like a turkey, leg of lamb or ham and we would eat that, with all the fixin's for Sunday dinner. For the rest of the week we had sandwiches and casseroles, interspersed with burgers, spaghetti and meatballs, or a pizza. Casseroles are great for using up those leftover bits of meat in a more interesting way. If you love cheese, as my family does, there's nothing better than some kind of meat baked with pasta and cheese. Okay, I confess, I'm Italian, and I eat like it.

Putting together a casserole is kind of like making soup, but without all the liquid. You need something to bind everything together, like cheese or some canned soup without the liquid, eggs, or breadcrumbs...or all of the above. Pretty much anything goes good in a casserole dish and there are loads of casserole recipes out there. First decide what kind of meat (or veggies, if you're vegan), starch, binder and flavors you want to put together. Then figure out how long it's going to take for the flavors to mingle in the oven, and go for it.

If you are going to use rice or pasta, you can either cook the starch first and then cook the casserole less or you will have to add the appropriate amount of liquid so it can cook. Things like potatoes don't need liquid but they will need an extended cooking time. With precooked starches you will just need enough time for everything to mix well and if you take that route, make sure you cook the meat first too.

Remember to season the casserole well or it will be rather bland. Beyond the usual salt and pepper, you would use basil, oregano and cheese for pasta, tomato sauce for rice or pasta and cheese for potatoes. Additional vegetables for any casserole would be onions, garlic, peas, beans, carrots, celery, bell-pepper, broccoli, cauliflower and corn. Tuna goes best with peas, onions, garlic and pasta, with a white sauce. Beef goes best with rice or pasta and all of the vegetables and tomato sauce. Chicken and turkey go best with rice or pasta, peas, corn, onions, garlic and broccoli. Ham goes best with onions, garlic, peas, beans, bell-pepper and cauliflower. These are not hard and fast rules, just examples. You fix what you like and don't worry about tradition. Pop that casserole in the oven, heat until bubbling and enjoy. When you make it yourself with fresh vegetables and a good chemical-free meat, it's healthy. That way you can also cut the calories, leave out additives that the deli might put in (and that the frozen food manufacturer will for sure put in), and get the satisfaction of knowing that you know exactly what is in it.

Indian-Style Samosa Casserole With Potatoes, Onion, and Carrots

How about a spicy Indian casserole? A lot of Indian dishes are vegetarian, and those who like to keep it meatless will really enjoy the Samosa casserole. The elimination of meat from a casserole dish definitely does not mean bland. Vegetable casseroles can be equally filling and full of flavor. While this recipe utilizes puff pastry a traditional preparation of this vegetable dish would have flour, salt and oil combined, made into a ball and set aside.

For the filling, curry, mustard seeds, cumin, ginger and red pepper flakes are mixed together. Potatoes are then boiled and mashed. Carrots, onions and garlic are sauteed for a few minutes before the mustard seed mixture is added. These are then toasted for half a minute and incorporated with broth and peas. Next, the potatoes are folded into the vegetable and seasoning combination. The whole thing is seasoned with salt and pepper to taste and then distributed into an oven dish. The dough is rolled out and made to cover the filling.

The Various Benefits Of Casserole Pots

A casserole pot is a piece of ovenware created for use in making casseroles, baked recipes which mix numerous ingredients together with a heavy sauce. There are numerous foods from all over the earth which are perfectly appropriate for being cooked inside a casserole pot for example macaroni cheese in the united states to Lasagne in Italy. The casserole dish has a number of special attributes which can make it well suited to these kinds of baking assignments. The phrase casserole pot may include bakeware made from numerous materials and obtainable in different styles and sizes.

Though all bakeware is capable of cooking meals for extended periods, casserole pots have specific selling points. Meals prepared inside casserole pots normally do not get dried out or burned and so they usually form a crust on the top which facilitates to maintain tastes as well as juices. This is accomplished by making a casserole pot dense, and sometimes by coating it with a coating of enamel or glaze. Simple glass is a very common material for casserole meals, but they are also made from dense enameled metal, for instance Le Creuset, and glazed earthen or stoneware.

Most of the time, a casserole is dished up directly from the dish it is baked in. For this reason they as a rule have an attractive design which make them suited to putting on the dining area table. The dish also typically possesses big grips which can make it easy to grip using the help of a potholder. More often than not, a mating lid may be designed too, for transporting casseroles carefully and for keeping them from drying out while under refrigeration.

It is believed that the term 'casserole' emanates from the french phrase 'stewing pan', and that casserole pots were typically heavy dishes that were placed on open fires to slow cook meals. Casserole is a highly versatile food, because all it actually calls for is meat or vegetables, something to pull them together, such as bread crumbs or noodles, and a thick gravy to prepare the mixture in. Casseroles are regarded as great comfort food and has the benefits of being straightforward to make as well as filling. More ingredients than required could be cooked in a casserole, and the left overs can be consumed over the subsequent days.

When selecting a casserole dish, size is an essential thing to consider. Inside a two or three person home, a more compact casserole pot may be more desirable, because it will not generate so many leftovers that people get fed up with it. In larger homes, or for parties, a big casserole dish is a fantastic choice. Different cooks prefer various materials, however you are always safe with a high quality enameled or ovenproof glass casserole dish.

And that's the hidden to production these types of recipes into good wholesome foods for your loved ones.

Meat Casseroles

Many of the ground beef casserole recipes couple on being good cheap food to feed a hungry house as inexpensively as possible. You do not want to feed things to your house that will be detrimental to them. So you will use the tenets of the Mediterranean diet to make your ground beef casserole recipes into reasonable wholesome recipes you can be proud to serve. Begin your ground beef casserole recipes by using good meats. They may cost more but they are worth it.

Unlike other dishes where you can drain the liquid fat off your ground beef after cooking, many one-dish casseroles will soak up the fat. This unwanted and unhealthy fat may also pool in the bottom of the casserole dish production your food less palatable. If at all possible, pre-cook your beef, drain the fat, and discard it.

Eating beef fat is not good for you so use lean ground meat. The fat article is commonly found on packages of ground beef. Be sure to read this and use the leanest meat you can afford.

Healthy chili recipes can also benefit from using leaner grinds of meat. Even when using lean meat, you should drain and discard as much of the fat as possible. This is not only healthier but will help you avoid absorbing unwanted and unnecessary calories. That's a good thing.

A great blend for a mouthwatering casserole combines good meats and good vegetables with a bit of whole grain corn tortilla chips. When buying tortilla chips make sure you read the container to assure it contains whole grain corn. Most tortilla chips are made from whole grain corn, which is a healthier choice than degerminated corn.

The other aspect of tortilla chips you may want to address is the amount of salt they have on them. This is really remedied by placing the tortilla chips into a brown paper grocery bag, rolling the top down a few turns, then gently shaking the bag back and forth for two minutes.

This causes the excess salt to fall from the chips production them a healthier food choice. Be sure you pick the chips out of the grocery bag and leave the salt in the bottom. Do not pour the chips out of the bag because the salt will slide out with the chips.

It is Ok that most of the ingredients in your casserole will be canned and not fresh, raw vegetables. When it is cooking all the raw food enzymes would be destroyed so it is not as prominent to be involved about preserving these vital nutrients.

That is why it is a smart idea to serve a raw vegetable plate as an appetizer while the casserole is cooking. It will keep your kids and/or guests out of your hair while you are preparation the meal. The raw vegetables will provide the raw food enzymes they need.

Serve a salad with many dissimilar colored vegetables as a side to the casserole. It is prominent to contain a raw vegetable dietary component to any cooked meal. Ground beef casserole recipes are great. Your house and guests will love them. The best reasons to make them commonly is that ground beef casserole recipes are easy to make, tasty, and nutritious if you use the permissible ingredients.
