Hamburger Hash Recipe

One of the most impressive aspects of the hamburger, an item regarded by many in its sole and iconic form, is that it offers a diverse and vast range of possible meal options, each with its own charms and tastes. One of the most popular ways of making a hamburger into something different is to find a hamburger hash recipe, a simple and yet very tasty way of making a full and hearty meal from a humble burger.

Most people buy the hamburger meat ground and lean - make sure you get the best possible ground beef that you can find, and knowing a good butcher can be a bonus here - and mash the potatoes fresh from the ground. This gives the best possible flavors, and the addition of onions is an essential part of making the hash what it is.

It is a great way of creating a very nice meal from simple ingredients, and clearly there are many ways of enhancing this simple and popular dish. One method of adding flavor is to top the hash with cheese - the choice of which is yours - and some people like to add a touch of garlic with the onions and a sprinkling of herbs. Basil, in particular, goes well with hamburger meat and gives that extra lift that can take a dish from being a good one to a special one.

Once you have found your standard hamburger hash recipe enhancing it to how you want it is a simple task. The ideas given here are just a few of those that are popular and you can easily think of others that are worth experimenting with. Serve your hamburger hash with a rich gravy - an essential touch that adds to the flavor - and you have what is possibly the most interesting hamburger meal you can imagine.

Best Burger Recipes is just that - a directory of hamburger recipes and a fun look at "burger culture", as well as an examination of beef substitutes like chicken, pork, salmon and vegetarian options.

Once a Month Cooking - Hamburger Pasta Casseroles Freezer Meals

When it comes to cooking and baking, I love experimenting with once a month cooking. This type of cooking is when you spend a day or two making and baking up several meals for your family and then freezing them for future use.

This recipe will make 3 large casseroles that will each feed 8 people. They will keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. You will need three 9 x 13" rectangular foil baking pans, that I like to pick up at our local dollar store or discount department store. After freezing, thaw the casserole in your refrigerator for 6-8 hours and then reheat in the oven for 20 minutes before serving.

Hamburger Pasta Casserole

4 lbs. lean ground beef

1 lb. thin sausage links, sliced into bite-sized pieces

2 cups onions, finely chopped

2 cups celery, finely chopped

1 1/4 cup green pepper, finely chopped

16-18 ounces pasta noodles

3 cans tomato soup

4 1/4 cups shredded American Cheese

12 ounce bottle chili sauce

1/4 cup pimento, chopped

2 teaspoons table salt

2 1/2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups water

4 1/2 cups bread crumbs

1/4 cup butter, melted (not margarine)

In a very large frying pan, cook the lean ground beef, sausage links, onion, celery and green pepper until the ground beef is brown and no longer pink. Drain off fat. Cook your desired pasta noodles according to box directions, drain water and set aside. In a large stock pot, add your cooked pasta noodles and meat mixture. Stir in the tomato soup, cheese, chili sauce, chili powder, chopped pimento, salt, pepper and water.

Split the mixture up into 3 equal portions. Place mixture into each of your baking pans. In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs with melted butter. Sprinkle seasoned bread crumbs on top of the casserole mixture.

Bake casseroles in a 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes. Let completely cool before wrapping and freezing.

How to Cook Hamburger

Anyone seeing for a guide on how to cook hamburger meat may be surprised by the amount of dissimilar ways that this versatile and very tasty meat can be cooked and eaten.

From the basic, approved hamburger itself through a range of diverse and impressive meals from over the world there is abundance of choice and a wide choice of flavors and ideas that make this affordable and easy to cook meat a popular choice.

Meat Casseroles

The first thing to think is the meat itself; traditionally lean ground beef, the great ability adding flavor to the burger, hamburger meat is something that can be served in many ways. Curries, chili's and casseroles all offer themselves to its use, and yet the most popular is the approved hamburger, an item so versatile, tasty and cheap that it has become a staple dish of many a cafeteria and diner.

The best way to cook hamburger is to shape it into the former patty, using eggs to bind it together and adding finely chopped onions into the mix. For a exiguous extra flavor you could comprise chopped tomatoes or herbs such as basil, or garlic in small quantities if that is to your taste.

Using a skillet, broil the burger on a low heat and periodically skim off the fat that emerges - this is precisely done and even the leanest of meat will comprise some fat - turning a merge of times to make sure it is cooked all the way through.

This is the exquisite burger, serve in a bun with fries or vegetables.

If you want to make a casserole you should mix the meat with the ingredients you want to comprise and cook gently in an oven, allowing the flavor to work through the mix and adding a taste choice that is very hard to beat.

The versatility of the hamburger is something that is difficult to match, and that's why it remains one of our popular dishes.

Hamburger Meat in the Crockpot

I happen to be a ground meat lover. While today I use mostly ground turkey, I still love my ground meat recipes. I own a cookbook called 365 Ways to Cook Hamburger. I love that cookbook. When I began using my crockpot more often, I began to look for ways I could convert many of my favorite recipes to crockpot recipes.

Since I began using ground turkey, one of my favorite dishes is meatloaf. I rotate making it in the oven and making it in the crockpot.

I use between two and two and a half pounds of ground turkey. Many people mix ground meats. I just use the turkey. Your consistency will be different if you use ground lamb, ground pork or ground beef. All are fine to use, you'll just taste the difference. The ground turkey doesn't always hold together from the crockpot, but the taste is wonderful.

In a large bowl, mix the ground meat with all of the following:

1 egg
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon Worchester sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 cup breadcrumbs
Diced onion to taste - My daughter does not like real onion so I use a few spoons of onion flakes.

After mixing together, shape into a ball that will fit into your crockpot. As I mentioned above, this does tend to fall apart a bit, so line your crockpot with foil. Fit the ball into the foil and cover. Cook on low about eight hours.

We will often add a quarter cup to a half cup of Parmesan cheese to the mixture. We love the taste of the cheese in the meatloaf.

When I was a child growing up, my mom used to make sweet and sour meatballs that we all begged her to make often. It was the simplest of recipes. She combined grape jelly and chili sauce to make the sauce. Then she'd boil it down twice before serving. I found a way to convert this recipe to my crockpot.

Since I start with ground turkey, I add breadcrumbs to the meat to help hold it together. I use between one and two pounds of meat, usually closer to the two pound mark. In a bowl, I mix a sixteen ounce jar of grape jelly and a twelve ounce bottle of chili sauce. I form the meat balls and roll them in the mixture. Then I place the meatballs in to the crockpot. Once I've coated the last meatball, I pour the sauce into the crockpot, over the meatballs. Cover and cook on low six to eight hours. These are wonderful over brown rice. The sauce soaks in the rice and it's just delicious.

Audrey's mom always entertained when she was growing up. Audrey learned to prepare for large groups and has often entertained 15-30 people in her home at a time. You can find more great recipes at http://www.recipe-barn.com

Casserole With Hamburger Meat

If you have some left over hamburger meat, and you are wondering what to make with it then this casserole dish using up your surplus burger meat will fit the bill perfectly.

The ingredients have a distinctive Texan influence and produce the most amazing flavours during cooking. The great part about this casserole is in its simplicity, you simply cook all the ingredients together including the rice which absorbs all the cooking juices and flavours resulting in a truly scrumptious beef mince casserole.

Texan Hamburger Meat Casserole ingredients

* 1 - 1.5 pounds of hamburger meat (you can also use just ground mince beef)

* 3 large finely sliced onions

* 1 Green pepper

* 1 large clove of garlic crushed

* 1 teaspoon of chili powder (reduce if you do not like it too spicy)

* 1 400g can of chopped tomatoes

* Half a cup of rice (long grain or basmati)

* 1 Teaspoon of salt

* Half teaspoon of pepper

Firstly, smear a decent sized casserole dish with oil ready for the meat mixture.

Brown off the hamburger meat and onions in a frying pan or skillet on a medium heat until the onions reaches transparency and then add the garlic and peppers and continue cooking until the pepper is soft. Now remove the pan/skillet from the heat and stir in the tomatoes and the remaining ingredients.

Now transfer the mixture into the pre oiled casserole dish cover either with a lid or some tightly fitting tin foil and cook for 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Once cooking time has elapsed remove the lid or foil and stir. Cook for a further 10 minutes and your casserole with hamburger meat is now ready. Serve with some grated cheese and soured cream, something quite special and once tried with no doubt become a family favourite dish!

How to Cook Hamburger

Anyone looking for a guide on how to cook hamburger meat may be surprised by the number of different ways that this versatile and very tasty meat can be cooked and eaten.

From the basic, standard hamburger itself through a range of diverse and impressive meals from across the world there is plenty of choice and a wide selection of flavors and ideas that make this affordable and easy to cook meat a popular choice.

The first thing to consider is the meat itself; traditionally lean ground beef, the better quality adding flavor to the burger, hamburger meat is something that can be served in many ways. Curries, chili's and casseroles all offer themselves to its use, and yet the most popular is the standard hamburger, an item so versatile, tasty and cheap that it has become a staple dish of many a restaurant and diner.

The best way to cook hamburger is to shape it into the traditional patty, using eggs to bind it together and adding finely chopped onions into the mix. For a little extra flavor you could include chopped tomatoes or herbs such as basil, or garlic in small quantities if that is to your taste.

Using a skillet, broil the burger on a low heat and periodically skim off the fat that emerges - this is easily done and even the leanest of meat will contain some fat - turning a couple of times to make sure it is cooked all the way through.

This is the perfect burger, serve in a bun with fries or vegetables.

If you want to make a casserole you should mix the meat with the ingredients you want to include and cook slowly in an oven, allowing the flavor to work through the mix and adding a taste selection that is very hard to beat.

The versatility of the hamburger is something that is difficult to match, and that's why it remains one of our favorite dishes.

The Diversity Of Hamburger

For more years than anyone of us can remember the hamburger has been a staple part of American - and worldwide - cuisine. Indeed, we know that the Salisbury steak - a derivation on the hamburger theme - has been with us since at least 1897, giving an idea of how long the original concept has been in existence. That there are so many recipes using hamburger meat or hamburgers themselves is testament to the versatility of this much favored ingredient, and the list of ways of cooking hamburger is growing all the time.

From the classic hamburger - the minced beef patties cooked with or without onions, served in a soft bun or with mash and gravy - to more spicy versions of the standard burger there is much in the way of variety. Popular options are spicy hamburgers using peppers, adding tomato or garlic for taste, the universally popular cheeseburger and more, but it is perhaps the diversity in recipes using hamburger meat that is most interesting.

From casseroles to curries via chilies and hash there is so much you can do with hamburger. It makes a perfect accompaniment to many rice dishes and is perfect for pasta - an ingredient often used to add texture - and when mixed with herbs such as basil can take on a completely different taste.

Many prefer to cook hamburger with onions and tomatoes - an Italian style of dish that can be very tasty indeed - but others find they like their hamburgers as just that, a burger, preferably cooked on an outdoor grill and absolutely delicious with tomato sauce, gravy or a touch of English mustard.

You will find many recipes using hamburger that are simple, affordable and very filling indeed, and with reduced fat from quality ground beef can also be very healthy indeed. That's the beauty of the good old hamburger - it has so many uses!
