Great Venison Oven Recipes

So many people associate venison with chili and stew, it never occurs to them that there are such things as venison oven recipes. I thought that too, and then I discovered that I could actually cook my venison inside the oven and not just on top of it.

The two best ways to cook venison in the oven are venison roasts and venison casserole. They're delicious and easy, and you almost always have leftovers. (They also make your house smell fantastic). There are many ways you can prepare roasts and casseroles, but it's good to have an old standby.

Meat Casseroles

My favorite roast is Venison Salt Roast. All you have to do it get a 3 to 5 pound bag of coarse salt (table salt won't work). Mix the salt with some water so you can mold it. Put the roast in a roast dish and cover with the salt. Cook at 200 degrees until internal temperature is where you like it (yes, you'll need a cooking thermometer). How long this takes will depend on the size of your roast. I find a 3 to 4 pound roast will cook in about 90 minutes. The salt will form a hard crust around the meat. Chisel it away for the most tender roast you've ever had.

My favorite Venison Casserole harkens back to my childhood. You'll need 1 box of egg noodles, 1 lb of ground venison, 1 can to cream of mushroom soup, frozen peas, and regular potato chips. Brown the meat and cook the noodles. Then Mix everything except the chips together in a casserole dish. Crush chips and sprinkle them on top. Cook at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Of course, there is much more you can do with venison in the oven. Experiment! It's fun.

Avoid Those Extra Calories: The Holiday Diet Challenge!

Thanksgiving started off the holiday season that will end on New Year's Day.  During this time of the year, most people struggle with their diet, especially with all the tempting holiday goodies that are being served left and right.  It is expected that most of us are going to overeat during these holidays, but experts advise Americans not to throw good habits out the window during the holidays. For some people, it's like a bleep on the screen. Holidays should not serve as a green light to a six-week indulgence that precedes and necessitates the trip back to the gym on the second day of the new year.
For people who have problems with obesity, this can be a very difficult time as it can really throw them off target. Studies have shown that seasonal weight gain during the holidays is a slippery slope.  One can easily add up ten pounds during the season. While three ounces of white turkey meat has only 130 calories, a serving of sweet potato casserole can give you as much as 330 calories. Stuffing has approximately 107 calories, a slice of pumpkin pie has more than 300, and a piece of pecan pie has 500 calories.
Dietitians recommend that instead of drinking alcohol and other high-caloric drinks, try to enjoy eating pies and turkey with lots of water. Help yourself with a  reasonable portion of meat, vegetables without the high-calorie sauces, and a few small bites of desserts. Eat slowly. But don't get stuck in guilt if you've eaten too much. Feeling guilty only makes things worse. It may lead you to totally abandon your diet and make haphazard decisions to resume weight loss plans in January next year.
Walking around the block can help you lose those added calories. It would take 27 minutes of walking to burn the 97 calories in an 8-ounce serving of cola. A really fast mile would burn 125 calories. But it's not enough to cover the 2,000 to 3,000 calories in an average Thanksgiving meals alone. And we still have Christmas and New Years Eve parties to go.
Have a plan of action by visualizing the meal beforehand. Decide ahead of time what food to eat and what to avoid. Eating while sitting is advised to make you feel fuller rather than standing which easily keeps the food down. Eat from a plate to keep things in proportion rather than off a tray, which makes you lose track of how much you already had.
You don't really have to deprive yourself of all those holiday goodies. Simply practice moderation. When you get offtrack, returning to an exercise regimen and having the right eating portions can help you get back on the road to a healthier diet and holiday spree.
A pound you gain and can't remove is a pound for life. Extra pounds that come from extra calories are not easy to melt away. So, have keep that plan of action to avoid getting those excess pounds during the holidays. Carefully choose what food to eat.  Eat leisurely, and savor those holiday goodness.

Marinating Meat - Mouth Watering and Yet Cheap!

Want to know how to marinate meat to be so tender it melts in your mouth?

Then your first ingredient needs to be vinegar, or something acidic based, such as canned tomatoes, or tomato juice. But personally, the secret ingredient here is vinegar. You only need about 1/2 cup of it, and you can dress it up with all kinds of herbs and spices. This is the part where you use your imagination.

Meat Casseroles

If the meat is quite thick, then you need to "open up" the meat either by stabbing it with a fork, or with a meat pounder. Place the meat in a casserole dish, that will let the marinade sit on the meat. Don't use too big a dish, or the meat will not absorb the marinade.

Once you have come up with your vinegar based marinade, then you cover the meat and refrigerate for at least two hours before you use it, with a minimum of 30 minutes, but I find two hours to be a great number. If the meat is really tough, you could leave it in the fridge overnight.

If you absolutely can not stand vinegar, then you can use tomato juice, or lemon juice or even wine. Or try some of the flavored vinegars, such as red wine vinegar,

If you have meat that is tough, and you are not planning on barbequing it, then get out the slow cooker or crock pot. It is amazing how tender meat can get from slow cooking all day in the crock pot.

If you choose to use the crock pot or slow cooker, then you can still use a vinegar marinade, but personally, if I am slow cooking the meat, it will most likely be a stew I am making. In this case I would place the meat in it, then cover with canned tomatoes and lots of herbs and spices and other vegetables, such as onions and carrots.

Get everything ready the night before, and leave it in the refrigerator, then in the morning, just before you go to work, get the crock pot going on very low, and head out to work. When you come home your house will smell divine and your dinner with be so tender you would not believe it was that same tough cut of meat you had that morning.

Marinating meat, is a great way to keep your grocery bills down. You can get the cheaper cuts of meat, and still get the same great taste. You just have to plan a bit more, but it is well worth the savings.

Many people are dusting off their crock pots, and using them again. You can even purchase "already to heat up in the crock pot instant dinners", but you can make the same thing yourself. Plus a crock pot takes the same energy as a light bulb. So, if you are trying to cut back on expenses, especially groceries, then get out some of those great marinating recipes, you can have a different taste each night from the same cut of meat. That should get your mouth watering!

How Negative calories Can Help ladies To Lose Weight Fast

Whenever you are going on dieting, weight loss professionals suggest you eat foods that are low in calories and contain the nutrients you need to stay healthy and awake. When combined with balanced diet and regular exercise, this is expected to help you lose weight. But are you aware that some foods actually burn calories during digestion?
It is a fact. According experts, these are reffered to be negative calorie foods. Negative calorie foods generally contain fewer calories than most others. This is because these foods are difficult to break down. Since these foods are naturally low calories, you will surely lose weight by eating them.
This makes you feel full and less likely to snack. Low calorie foods include apples, broccoli, turnips and many others. Raspberries and pineapples are also factored into the weight loss equation. At first glance, the notion of the low calorie foods may seem hard to believe, but it has served dieters well for a long time. They just may not have realized it.
From expert view, the only challenge with these foods is that it may not be easy to find negative calorie foods that you truly enjoy. If you can not stand turnips, consider sprinkling some turnip shavings into a dish with a dominant flavor.
For instance, you could make a potato cheese casserole with turnip shavings and not taste the turnips very much. The same goes for fruits, such as pineapple. If pineapple is not exactly one of your favorite fruits, consider shaving some pineapple fibers into low fat yogurt or a fruit salad. This will disguise the taste.
You can also place a sprig of broccoli in tomato soup. Tomatoes are also a negative calorie food, so this combination is a great one, if you hope to lose weight. Sprinkle some lettuce and a few onions into the soup and you've added yet another wholesome ingredient.
Eating negative calorie foods helps you to shed weightlose. But you will also need to exercise to burn calories you've consumed through other foods. Bear in mind that reducing calories alone will not help unless you have a way to expend that energy. Even though you're consuming fewer calories than you would normally, resist the temptation to do a shorter workout. Keep up with your regular routine. However, adding some extra workouts never hurts.
South beach diet meats are generally low calorie foods. When combined with negative calorie fruits and vegetables, these can help you achieve your weight loss goals. However, don't eat just any negative calorie food for the sake of eating it alone. Choose those that you enjoy and then pair it with other low fat foods.
Eatless foods without negative calories. If you eat foods with negative calories, you may be able to eat more extras, such as cheese and margarine. Add these with low calorie snacks. Make Sure to drink a lot of water as well. This makes you feel okay and hydrated.
